After finding a bonsai you love and taking it home, doubts arise. What do I need for its care? Tools? Fertiliser? Anything special?
Here are some suggestions of everything you may need to care for your bonsai as it deserves:
TOOLS
Fine pinching shears 190 mm. Mainly used to help shape the bonsai as it grows. They can be used for both pinch the leaves and cut the finest branches. Their shape allows us to have good access to the internal parts of the bonsai.
Pruning shears 190 mm. Used to cut the thickest branches and roots. These are thicker and shorter scissors, which allow us to exert greater force when cutting.
Check this video to learn how to choose the right shear's size in relation with your hand.
WATERING
Watering Can 0.9 L. This watering can is special for bonsai because of its sprinkler, which has finer holes than a conventional one. This system produces a fine rain when watering our bonsai and prevents the substrate from moving from the pot with the pressure of the water. It is available in different colours.
A fertiliser is another must have for a proper bonsai care. Your bonsai needs food. The substrate in the bonsai pot little by little loses its nutrients, that's why we need a fertiliser for an extra supply. Mistral Bonsai recommends the Hiryo-Gold Maintenance organic solid fertiliser 350 g, or the Nutribonsai liquid mineral fertiliser 250 ml. Both very easy and quick to apply.
A good option to collect at once all the basic and most important tools you need for your bonsai care is by acquiring the Maintenance Kit Mistral Bonsai.
