Spring is the favourite time for pests, although some of them can visit us all year around. To fight most common pests in bonsai, we recommend using a Triple Action product that you can buy in any florist or garden centre. This product attacks mites, insects and fungi, and it can be used as a preventive or as a curative treatment.
If you would rather use a homemade method, here’s a recipe with garlic that is very easy to prepare. Gardening specialists affirm that garlic is an excellent natural repellent with a great ability to deter and repel insects. To prepare it, add a head of garlic in a blender with some cloves and two glasses of water. Let it rest for 24 hours and mix it with 3 litres of water. Steam directly on the leaves of your bonsai. It is especially effective with aphids.
